Workplace accidents: Man killed in airport accident while on job

FedEx is an international delivery company that employs roughly 400,000 workers worldwide. Thousands of employees report to their jobs and work each day without incident. However, workplace accidents may occur in California or elsewhere around the country in any job, regardless of where a person works. A lawsuit was recently filed against FedEx for gross negligence in the October death of one of its employees.

The male employee was working on an airplane at an airport in another state. The man suffered fatal injuries after being crushed inside the plane, according to reports. The lawsuit claims that the company did not fully train employees to do their assigned duties.

As of the latest news, there was no information on how the accident occurred. Investigations are still being conducted to determine how the accident occurred. There has also been no comment from the Federal Aviation Administration or the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

The lawsuit states that FedEx did not exhibit adequate interest in training its employees to safely conduct tasks related to their jobs. It also claims that the company failed in its employee training process. FedEx is working together with various agencies in an ongoing investigation.

Even if companies have the most comprehensive safety training programs in place, workplace accidents can still happen.  If someone is injured or dies on the job, a claim may be made against the employer. Survivors of the victim may elect to file a wrongful death lawsuit. A California workers' compensation attorney can work with clients to ensure that they receive the amount of benefits to which they are entitled.
