Workers’ compensation can help in the event of a fatal accident

Construction workers are exposed to certain risks as part of their jobs. Extensive safety training and other precautions can serve to reduce the chances of an accident occurring in California. Sadly, accidents still happen and are sometimes fatal. Workers’ compensation exists to help with medical care and may also provide benefits in the event of accidental death.

A recent accident at the site of a demolition resulted in the death of a worker. He was in the process of demolishing a stone structure when a portion of stone and concrete wall collapsed. The worker was trapped beneath the stone and broken concrete.

Reports indicated that the worker suffered traumatic injuries as a result of being crushed under the weight of the concrete and stone. According to the coroner, the worker died before he was able to be freed from the pile of debris. It is not known if any safety violations were involved. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

Families in California send loved ones off to work fully expecting them to return at the end of the day.
