When construction workers report to a job site they want to believe that the site is safe and that the company they work for has done their best to ensure their safety. Such precautions could protect against workplace accidents happening in California. A roofing company was recently cited by Cal/OSHA for violations of fall protection safety.
California Premier Roofscapes, Inc. was cited for failing to ensure that their employees were wearing fall protection harnesses and other protective gear. Falls are the leading cause of death among construction workers nationwide. In California, there have been 162 serious injuries and nine deaths due to falls since 2014.
Since 2014, Cal/OSHA has cited California Premier Roofscapes, Inc. for multiple violations. These violations include failure to ensure workers wear protective gear, failure to have and maintain written safety policies and failure to inspect safety equipment prior to each use. Failure to observe these safety procedures could lead to workplace accidents at California Premier Roofscapes, Inc. work sites. Fines are being considered regarding the violations.
California construction workers have a right to expect that reasonable safety precautions will be provided to them. For construction workers who have suffered workplace accidents, a confidential conversation with an attorney experienced in workers’ compensation law may be beneficial. A knowledgeable attorney can advise the victim of an on-the-job accident (or the surviving family of a deceased victim) on what legal avenues are available. No one should have to fear for his or her safety on the job, and those that have suffered injury can pursue benefits claims through the state-regulated insurance program.
