Avoid workplace accidents with these tips

On behalf of Godwin and Rubin posted in Workplace Accidents on Wednesday, June 28, 2017.

The National Safety Council reports that a worker gets hurt on the job every seven seconds. Furthermore, almost 13,000 employees are injured at work every day. As June is designated as National Safety Month, efforts are being made to stress the importance of safety in the workplace. Focusing on preventing workplace accidents can create a safer work environment for California employees and others around the country.

Safety experts recommend that every business have a workplace safety program. Potential issues can be identified and steps can be put in place to remove or control the hazard. All types of companies need this type of program, whether a business office or manufacturing plant.

It is vital to keep a workplace free from accidents. Examine the work environment and take steps to clearly mark potential areas of concern. In today’s society, workplace violence is an increasingly dangerous possibility. Business owners have the responsibility to ensure that their employees are safe on the job and provide appropriate security.

Any equipment should be in good functioning condition. Also, buildings and other infrastructure must be safe and free from hazards. The National Safety Council reports that roughly a quarter of workplace injuries happen when employees are trapped or crushed by heavy objects. All workers need to be aware of any potential safety risks and report them to management as soon as possible.

While most California companies provide a safe job environment, workplace accidents still occur. When someone has been injured on the job, it would be beneficial to contact a workers’ compensation attorney. A lawyer can guide a client through the legal process of securing the benefits to which he or she is entitled.
